Coogee
Affectionately known as ‘Sydney’s seaside village’, Coogee is a thriving community with a big heart. Barzura is proud to support our community through sponsorships and donations and by hosting special fundraising events. Coastal Walk/Whale WatchingOne of the most popular walks in Sydney is right on Barzura’s doorstep. The beautiful coastal walkway leads you from Bondi to Coogee beach, and on to La Perouse via Maroubra. Why not take a break from your walk to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Barzura…? At certain times of the year, our terrace is the perfect vantage point for spotting whales and dolphins. For info about the Coastal Walk and other local attractions: www.randwickcitytourism.com.au. Coogee’s historic ocean poolJust one of many local attractions, Wylies Baths (built in 1907) is a protected ocean pool with spectacular views across Coogee Bay and beyond. The ideal place for a refreshing dip before strolling over to Barzura for breakfast. For info about Wylies Baths and other local attractions: www.randwickcitytourism.com.au. Free parkingWhy do Barzura customers get to enjoy free parking right in front of the restaurant and the surrounding streets? In 2005, Coogee Beach was part of Randwick City Council’s plan to install parking meters along Sydney’s eastern beaches. Coogee locals felt this posed a real threat to their close-knit community and organised the Anti Parking Meter Campaign. That August, hundreds of protestors formed a giant ‘NO’ on the beach. The plans were withdrawn and we continue to enjoy free parking at Coogee Beach. The BeastFree monthly magazine covering Sydney’s eastern bays and beaches.
